The Second phase of “King of PASCHIM MEDINIPUR” was held at Kharagpur on 23rd January 2023. The event started with hoisting of tricolor by C.E.O of Bengal Chess Association Mr. Atanu Lahiri and paying homage to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
From a total of 180 players, only the best 45 were selected for the second phase. Those selected players compete in 6 rounds and top 7 are promoted to phase 3. In the final phase, a round robin tournament of those top 7 players will decide the King of PASCHIM MEDINIPUR district.
Kousik Samui bags the first position in this tournament. 2nd and 3rd position are secured by Dhiman Mitra and Anirban Nandi respectively. The tournament was officiated by Arunava Pal. Bengal Chess Association congratulates Rajesh Kr. Roy & Subham Saha for this kind of great initiation and successful conduct of the tournament.
