ATANU LAHIRI, the CEO of Bengal Chess Association is reappointed as the member of Education Committee of the World Chess Federation. Atanu is the only person from India in the Committee of 20 members from all over the World who are supposed to work for integration of chess in the education system.
Atanu Lahiri is an International Master of chess and also a renowned coach who has trained the National teams of 6 countries. Besides, he holds the degree of FIDE Trainer and Lecturer of FIDE CIE. In recent years he is involved in promoting chess among the marginalized communities in India.
The appointment of Atanu as the member attains significance because the World Chess Federation recognized the contribution of Atanu in promoting chess in schools and overruled objections by a section of vested interest from All India Chess Federation. In fact, the position given to Atanu only shows that the respect and position in FIDE can be attained through dedication and hardwork rather than appeasement and recommendation.
BENGAL CHESS ASSOCIATION CONGRATULATES INTERNATIONAL MASTER ATANU AND THANKS FIDE FOR REPOSING FAITH IN OUR CEO.
